L’ARBRE DE L’AUTHENTICITÉ, a three-part documentary essay by Congolese photographer and video artist Sammy Baloji, uses poetic texts to explore the impact of the ecological destruction that began during Belgium's colonization. It features the voices of two pioneering scientists who were active between the 1910s and 1950s: Paul Panda Farnana and Abiron Beirnaert. L’ARBRE DE L’AUTHENTICITÉ won the Special Jury Award at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The screening will be followed by a discussion with Edson Anibal (voiceover).
